Dental Bonding

What is Dental Bonding?

Dental bonding involves enhancing the very front of your teeth if they are cracked, chipped or have spaces and gaps between them. We use composite resin material that is matched perfectly to your existing smile. Most bonding will last for 10 or more years before it may need to be replaced. Unlike other dental procedures, bonding is a noninvasive, quick and simple way to transform your appearance.

Why is Dental Bonding needed?

Whether you’ve chipped a front tooth or have spaces and gaps that need to be filled, bonding is a simple and effective way to alter your look. Bonding is most often done on just the front (anterior) teeth. Some reasons you’d need bonding include:

  • Your front teeth have chipped
  • Your front teeth are cracked
  • You have gaps and spaces between your front teeth
  • Your front teeth are uneven-looking

Who is a candidate for Dental Bonding?

Most of our patients who need or want bonding can safely come in to have the procedure done. Bonding is most often done on just the front teeth to fill in areas of missing dentition. If you have gaps, spaces or chipped front teeth, bonding is a quick and easy way to correct the problem. You can expect your bonding to last for 10 or more years before replacement is necessary.

What happens during the procedure for Dental Bonding?

The procedure to place bonding is simple, and little to no anesthetic is necessary. We first file down the area that will be bonded to smooth any rough or jagged edges. A bonding gel is applied before the composite resin is smoothed into place. We carefully detail the material so that it blends seamlessly with the existing tooth. The material is then cured and hardened into place, preventing it from moving. This process is then repeated if any other front teeth require bonding work.
