Dentures & Partials

What are Dentures & Partials?

Replacing missing teeth can have a positive impact on your quality of life. If you’re missing many of your teeth or have severely advanced gum disease, you may benefit from having a denture or partial made for you. These appliances are specifically designed to replace missing dentition within the mouth. The prosthetic appliance is realistic-looking and custom-fitted so that it is comfortable for you to wear all day.

Why would Dentures & Partials be needed?

There are several reasons for needing a denture or partial. First, these appliances can improve your confidence and get you feeling good about your smile. Secondly, the appliance can easily help to improve oral functionality, like eating and chewing. Your new appliance can last for up to seven years and provide you with consistent daily wear.

Who is a candidate for Dentures & Partials?

Patients with advanced gum disease or who are already missing a lot of their teeth can benefit from these appliances. Partials are best for patients who have a great deal of their own natural teeth still in place. Full dentures are best for those who are missing all of their teeth or who need to have extractions done due to gum disease. Most patients who need dentures can easily have them made and placed in our office.

What happens during the procedure for Dentures & Partials?

We will take impressions of your mouth and use these to make the permanent appliance. You will then come back into the office after one to two weeks. The denture is fitted into your mouth and adjusted as needed. Many patients will need several adjustments in order to have a comfortable appliance that they can wear all day. You should wear your denture throughout the day and remove it at night to clean it. Cleaning and properly storing your denture will extend its life and prevent any damage from occurring.
