Invisalign

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is an orthodontic system that uses clear BPA-free aligners to straighten your teeth. Unlike traditional braces, no metal brackets or wiring will be required. You simply wear your clear Invisalign trays for about 22 hours a day and will benefit from a healthier and more beautiful smile in just a matter of about one to two years. Invisalign is ideal for teens and adults wanting a less obvious way to straighten their teeth.

Why would Invisalign be needed?

If your teeth are crowded, crooked or unevenly spaced, it’s more than just a cosmetic problem. It can be impossible to keep these teeth clean properly because you’re unable to floss between them or reach all surfaces of the teeth with a toothbrush. By straightening your teeth, you’re able to take better care of them and less likely to deal with problems associated with gingivitis and tooth decay. Invisalign is a great choice for patients who need orthodontic treatment but don’t want to wear traditional braces.

Who is a candidate for Invisalign?

You might assume that your dental problems are too severe to benefit from Invisalign. Thankfully, Invisalign is designed to tackle a wide range of different orthodontic problems. Invisalign is ideal for patients who have crowded, crooked or unevenly spaced teeth as well as under and overbites. We will perform an exam and take x-rays of your teeth to determine if Invisalign is right for you.

What happens during the Invisalign process?

The treatment process begins with a full consultation to get to know you and your smile. We then take impressions and provide you with your first set of Invisalign aligners. You’ll wear these aligners for about 22 hours each day and take them out to brush, floss and eat. You will need to come back in every few weeks to have new aligners made throughout the course of treatment. Most patients will be finished with Invisalign treatment in roughly six to 18 months.
